the mis-hap of a fashion show .

December 10, 2010 - 10:30pm : After weeks of preparation, hard earned money sweat & tears put into designs from every designer, hours of hair/makeup& styling models ; were all standing backstage taking each breath with excitement & anticipation for all our hard work to finally be showcased for all who came to support our movement that evening. Looking around at all my fellow designers and how much weve all grown as individuals in this fashion industry I was in awe. At this point everything was going perfectly and the joy that filled the room is one that cannot be described in words. . .

December 10, 2010 - 11:00pm : SHOWTIME ! the music starts .. the stunning miss Star Brown prepares herself to kick off the show in her BLOWD attire while everyone cheers her on waiting for their turn to rock the amazing runway ahead, completely unaware of what was to come next. What was supposed to be a 2 min time slot turned into 3 min , which then turned into 5 min of a model on the runway changing into another look which resulted in the cancellation of the remainder of the show.

Opinion : Never mind that the first designer went over his allotted time, now one of his models is changing clothes on the runway of one of the nicest upscale clubs in LA. This show was about showcasing EACH designer and the progress we've made. Regardless of if your line opened the show, was 5th in line or was dead last, there was a criteria to be followed. Apparently the first designer didn't feel like it applied to them and ruined it for the rest of us. Now, I know it wasnt intentional to have the show shut down, but there were some choices made that were not the smartest. Everyone makes mistakes, yes. But now the issue is the arrogance after the fact. Nobody else got to fullfill their evening yet you insist on posting the pictures of your models on the runway everyone else looked foreward to walking on. This particular person knows I have nothing but love for him and his designs, but he crossed the line & now upset everyone. He should have stepped his game up and made better decisions point blank. I hope we all learned from this experience. At this point we can only move on. Forgive & forget .

This woman has been an inspiration to us all. The messages in her lyrics & the God sent voice to back it up. I will listen to her music for the rest of my life & it will never get old. A legend. A leader. A messenger. The epitome of a musician. If I could model my direction after any artist it would be this woman right here. I hope to touch peoples lives the way she has. God did an amazing job with this creature.

Children Uniting Nations

12th Annual Day of the Child

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

@ STAR ECO Station in Culver City

The Day of the Child is Children Uniting Nations' flagship even to bring awareness to the plight of at-risk and foster children. 1,000 foster children from all over Los Angeles County come to enjoy a day of amusement park rides, booths, food, games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and celebrity hosts. This year, Day of the Child will have a 'green' theme including hands-on discovery centers to learn about the environment and an eco-tour where they will meet many of the exotic animals that STAR ECO Station has rescued.

At the end of the day, each child receives a gift package filled with clothing, toys, blankets, school supplies, toiletries, and more. We need your support to make this amazing event happen and to create a magical day that our foster children will remember for the rest of their lives! Volunteers will of coarse get food and receive a t-shirt.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP.

the Bows walked for AIDS.

  Sunday October 17th my Bows & I walked 6miles for a good cause. Saw a lot of familiar faces and made some new friends. We were singing and dancing the whole 6 miles. That in addition to the rain explains why we all looked a mess at the end lol. We had a good time. When we finished we treated ourselves to Roscos followed by a well deserved nap!

Last week one of my best friends came to visit from Atlanta, Georgia. We ran around Hollywood all day shopping, eating, talking to & meeting the most random people. Everyone meet Indigo Charlie! .. not only does she have an intriguing and mesmerizing voice, she is also a Los Angeles FIDM student. Completely busy with her aspiring fashion career in addition to being a personal assistant for Solange Knowels, Miss Charlie  isnt waisting any time! As an indie musician using all her spare time to work on her first EP album to shop to the major record labels Indigo has her work cut out for her. She has been compared to Lykke Li and I'm sure takes a lot of inspiration from Solange in creating her unique sound. As a fellow singer/songwriter and fashionista I am excited for her and the career she has ahead of her. I wish her many blessings & I shall see her at the top !
